Elementary motion dectors in the brain

6 GSN students involved in a major breakthrough!

12.08.2013

We are proud to announce that six GSN students working in Prof. Dr. Axel Borst's lab were involved in a major breakthough in understanding elementary motion detector in both Drosophila and mouse models. The research has already resulted in the 2 Nature publications:

Maisak MS, Haag J, Ammer G, Serbe E, Meier M, Leonhardt A, Schilling T, Bahl A, Rubin GM, Nern A, Dickson BJ, Reiff DF, Hopp E and Borst A. (2013) A directional tuning map of Drosophila elementary motion detectors. Nature 500: 212–216. doi:10.1038/nature12320

Masland RH. (2013) Neuroscience: Accurate maps of visual circuitry. Nature 500: 154–155. doi:10.1038/500154a
