“The attentive brain, the deluded brain – what is reality”

Cross-disciplinary discovery workshop for graduate students in the life sciences, social sciences & humanities, philosophy, physics, medicine and beyond, 4-7 November, Mittelwihr, Alsace

The 3-day discovery workshop will reflect on the nature of what we call scientific proof, reasoning, illusion and attention, objectivity and subjectivity, consciousness, employing theoretical and practical sessions. It will deal with questions like:

  • How do we perceive the world?
  • What is reality?
  • What is scientific proof?
  • If your senses get fooled by the magician’s trick how about your brain when analyzing your data?
  • Ever wondered why your mind wanders while you read an important publication? etc.

Speakers come from the domains of neuroscience, physics, medicine and philosophy, ensuring that the workshop topic will be covered from various angles. Encouraged to participate are PhD students from a broad range of disciplines.
