12th International PhD Student Symposium "Horizons in Molecular Biology"

September 14-17th 2015, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen

11.08.2015

The 12th “Horizons in Molecular Biology” International PhD Student symposium is taking place from September 14-17th 2015, at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen.

Explore the frontiers of molecular biology in 18 talks by dynamic young scientists as well as established luminaries, among them the Nobel Laureate Martin Chalfie, who will talk about mechanosensory transduction in C. elegans; Fumiyo Ikeda, who is doing research on the role of ubiquitination in immune response; Alice Ting, a pioneer in the field of the study of dynamic protein interactions and live protein trafficking; Maya Schuldiner, who uses S. cerevisiae to understand the mechanisms of intracellular organization; Axel Brunger, the developer of one of the most widely used software suites in structural biology, who works on the molecular mechanisms of synaptic neurotransmitter release; and Tom Rapoport, who will deliver the keynote lecture of the symposium, in which he will talk about his work on protein transport across or insertion into the endoplasmatic reticulum membrane.

Network with speakers, for example during a “Lunch with the Prof”, and interact with them and other participants at social events like the conference party and dinner.

Present your own research in a poster and have the chance to win a poster prize! And don’t miss the chance to draw people to your poster in an Elevator Pitch preceding the poster session!

Apply for an Awarded Student Talk – if you are selected, all your travel costs and the registration fee for Horizons will be covered, plus you get to give a talk about your research during the conference, alongside some of the most influential life scientists.

Discover opportunities at the Career Fair preceding the symposium and develop skills you need in your future career – be it in academia, in industry, in journalism or your own start-up!

Registration is OPEN! The number of participants is limited to 300!
