Post-Doc position in Neuroscience

The Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Research Group Prof. Dr. Alexander Pfeifer, University Hospital Bonn

05.05.2015

Post-Doc position (100%)
Neuroscience
start April/May 2015

The research group is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with a particular focus in identification and validation of novel drug targets for neurodegenerative diseases. In close collaboration with partners from pharmaceutical industry, the successful applicant will work on an ongoing research project that aims to unravel the underlying mechanisms involved in the spread of brain neuropathologies by means of high-throughput RNAi screening technology.

The group is looking for a highly motivated young scientist with a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree. A strong scientific background in neurobiology, molecular cell biology, and biochemistry is desired. Candidates with hands-on experience in cell culture techniques (incl. primary neuronal cell cultures), induced pluripotent stem cell maintenance and differentiation, molecular biology (incl. RNAi, qPCR and cloning), protein biochemistry and microscopy (incl. western blotting, ELISA, immunofluorescence) and/or animal models of neurodegenerative diseases are particularly encouraged to apply. Furthermore, experience in development of cell-based assays, highthroughput/high-content screening, large-scale data analysis and/or CRISPR-Cas genome editing technologies is advantageous.
