Shape the next <Interact> Student Symposium

The IMPRS is recruiting PhD students interested in co-organizing the next <Interact> symposium:

No matter, if you already have experience in organizing a big event or if you want to gain some: You are the right person for the new <Interact> team! There are lots of reasons, why joining the organizing team is a good idea: You will learn new things, make new friends, collect credit points for your PhD program, it always looks good in your CV and - most importantly - it is a lot of fun!

Organizing <Interact> is a great opportunity to further develop your personal skills portfolio and gain substantial hands on experience in project management, fundraising, team work, leadership, communication and many other skills. It is a lot of fun to shape the next event together with the other team members and to make a difference. Taking over responsibility and initiative to organize such an event certainly will also make your CV stand out. In particular, when applying for jobs outside of academia such a skills portfolio could turn out to be rather helpful.

Munich based doctoral students working in the area of Life Sciences and beyond are welcome to participate in the organization of <Interact> 2014. Previous knowledge in the organization of meetings is not required. All students that plan to be part of the organizing team will be invited to a two day kick-off workshop that is specifically designed as preparation for this particular task (details). Participants of the workshop will learn basics in project management and fundraising. They also will learn how to build and how to effectively cooperate in a team. In addition, there will be plenty of time during the workshop to get to know your fellow organizers and to assemble a productive team. Previous <Interact> organizers will be available for consultation during the workshop too.

Please note that the workshop is only open to students that plan to actively participate in the organisation of the next <Interact> Symposium. It is NOT a general project management workshop.

The workshop will take place on *May 28th/29th* (details).

Both, participation in the <Interact> organizing team and participation in the project management workshop will be certified by IMPRS-LS.

*Interested?* If you want to be part of the next <Interact> team, please send me a brief email indicating your name, affiliation and email address (mail to: info@imprs-ls.de). Please also let us know if you plan to participate in the workshop on May 28th/29th.

Invitation to the 2nd In Vivo Microscopy Symposium in Helsinki

Date: May 27th-29th, 2013

In Vivo Microscopy Symposium (IVM) is entirely dedicated to in vivo two-photon (a.k.a. multiphoton) imaging. The program covers its applications from human skin imaging, to immunology, oncology and neuroscience.

This year’s event is organized by the University of Helsinki in cooperation with its industrial partners. It features leading neuroscientists and imaging experts as speakers: Chester Mathis (University of Pittsburgh, USA), Mark Hübener (Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology, Germany), Alberto Diaspro (Italian Institute of Technology, University of Genoa, Italy) and others.

Take a closer look at the program that starts on the 27th of May with a skin imaging model and continues to neuroimaging in the second half of the day. Please, notice that there is a separate data analysis module at the end: www.neurotar.com/ivm2013/program-2013

Deadline for on-line registrations is May 26. Register by following this link: www.neurotar.com/ivm2013/registration. You will get an electronic receipt of your payment/registration.

Helsinki is at its best in May. HelpHostel Helsinki is close to the venue and is a great alternative to staying at the Marina Hotel and Conference Center.
