Master Thesis Position

Institute of Clinical Neuroimmunology, LMU Munich

04.04.2017

Our laboratory at the Institute of Clinical Neuroimmunology of the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich is interested in axonal plasticity following CNS injuries. We have previously shown that the formation of axonal intraspinal detour circuit is crucial for ensuing functional recovery following spinal cord injury (Bareyre et al., 2004; Lang et al., 2012).

In a project as part of the Synergy Excellence Cluster we want to investigate how molecular cues specify selection and stabilization of target cell contacts during axonal remodelling following spinal cord injury. Our laboratory employs a broad range of techniques ranging from spinal surgery and stereotactic tracing to gene therapy and high-resolution microscopy.

We offer a financed position for a Master thesis in an international and dynamic atmosphere, access to state of the art laboratory facilities, under the supervision of one of our PhD student. We are looking for a highly motivated student with keen interest in neuroscience and excellent communication skills in English.
