Talking Science 2025
György Buzsáki, Professor of Neuroscience at NYU School of Medicine, will be this year's guest on December 16th-17th at the LMU Biocenter
16.12.2025 – 17.12.2025
We are delighted to invite you to this year’s Talking Science event, featuring Prof. György Buzsáki, Biggs Professor of Neuroscience at NYU School of Medicine.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 16th and Wednesday, 17th of December at the LMU Biocenter in Martinsried.
About the event
Talking Science is a two-day event consisting of a public keynote lecture, 1-on-1 meetings, and roundtable discussions organized by PhD students, to provide a platform for Masters, PhD students and postdocs to interact with distinguished researchers in an approachable, friendly setting. During this year's event, students will have the chance to engage in informal discussions with Prof. Buzsáki.
About Prof. Buzsáki
Over the past four decades, Prof. Buzsáki has shaped the field of modern systems neuroscience. His groundbreaking research on hippocampal and cortical circuits revealed how neuronal oscillations, including theta rhythms, gamma cycles, and sharp-wave ripples, serve as the temporal framework for cognition. Through his work, we have come to understand how these rhythms coordinate information flow, support memory consolidation during sleep, and underpin the brain’s predictive coding of the world.
Prof. Buzsáki is also the author of the influential book Rhythms of the Brain, and his ideas continue to inspire generations of neuroscientists and scholars across disciplines.
