PhD student position in Auditory Neuroscience
Salary will be according to TV level E 13 (65%).
We expect the position to be available from September 2018 for a duration of 3 years.
Our environment
We are part of a vibrant community of auditory and sensory neuroscience groups in Oldenburg, joined in the Cluster of Excellence “Hearing4All” (http://hearing4all.eu/EN/) and theResearch Centre Neurosensory Science.The PhD candidate will participate in the structured graduate programs ofthe associated Graduate SchoolOLTECH (www.oltech.org) in a joint Oldenburg/Groningen PhD program.
The project
We are looking for a PhD candidate that will study the anatomical change in the inner ear associated with noise-induced and age-related hearing loss. A special focus is on the synaptopathy associated with “hidden hearing loss”. The work will be carried out in a collaboration betweenthe labs of Georg Klump (www.uol.de/en/animalphysiology/) and Christine Köppl (www.uol.de/en/cochlea/) at Oldenburg University, and Sonja Pyott at the University Medical Center Groningen (thepyottlab.com).
Your profile
Applicants must hold an academic university degree (M.Sc.) or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., Biology, Neuroscience, Veterinary Science). You should be enthusiastic about doing a PhD.Basic knowledge and practical experience with histological techniques is a distinct advantage.
