Post Doc Biomarker Assessment - CNS Diseases

Job description:
In the department „Marker Discovery & Assessment“ novel biomarkers for different medical applications will be validated. The focus of this position will be the assessment of new biomarkers in the field of CNS diseases, particularly for Alzheimer disease (AD). The technological focus is the development of immunoassays on our Elecsys® platform and the clinical validation of these new markers.

Your work will focus on the following tasks:
• You will perform extensive screening of publications and patents for the identification of interesting technologies or marker candidates for CNS diseases
• You will be responsible for the development of immunoassays of the selected biomarkers on the Elecsys® platform
• You will assess antigens and antibodies for their suitability in immunoassays
• You will be responsible for the technical validation of newly developed immunoassays, which will be used in clinical studies
• You will be part of a clinical validation team, which is responsible for the clinical validation of the biomarkers
• You will summarize all relevant results and you will present these results in scientific committees
• Thereby you will coordinate all relevant activities regarding project planning, project implementation and project reporting to an interdisciplinary team
• You will be responsible for ensuring the documentation of all achieved results
• The work requires the willingness to handle potentially infectious human material.

Who you are:
For this exciting task you have following requirements:
• You hold a PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, biology or medicine
• In addition you have scientific experience in the field of CNS diseases (e.g. AD)
• You have first experiences in assay development and technical validation of assays
• You have solid background in protein chemistry and analytics for quantification and characterization of biomolecules
• Your qualification should be clearly demonstrated by at least one first author paper published or accepted in a high-quality peer-review journal during PhD
• You like to work creative, innovative and flexible
• You appreciate the form of cooperation to work in an interdisciplinary and international team and you have strong communication skills
• You are a pro-active individual with passion and commitment to innovate healthcare through our Roche Diagnostics Postdoc program
• You already demonstrated personal flexibility and the capability to work independently
• Highly advanced planning and organizational skills complete your profile
• You possess excellent spoken and written English skills
